The New Technicolor Cine Style for Canon DSLRs – First Thoughts

Here’s a quick test I did with the new profile, comparing to stock profiles and “super flat” profiles and how it all holds up to color grading.   You can get the profile here: http://www.technicolor.com/en/hi/cinema/filmmaking/digital-printer-lights/cinestyle

Just a note, I’ll be doing a three part video tutorial on color grading that starts with shooting for post and optimizing workflow for color.  Will be out this summer!

Can’t wait to see more thorough testing with this. I have been using CPF Style forever now… works great… Maybe Technicolor knows what they are doing too…lol…

@Brandon: glad you’ve found the Crooked Path Flat useful! I still think any flat profiles are dangerous in a compressed h264 codec and The Technicolor profile is no different. I still recommend CPF3.0.

I am finally playing with it now (everyone is so far ahead of me on this one).

With Magic Lantern zebras on you can really see what it does with the shadows compared to the neutral style I normally use.

I said I was giving up on these flat styles but I will have to give this one a good test.

I downloaded the CineStyle profile but can’t install it onto my Canon T2i as the thing I need to select in the canon utility is greyed out.
